RESUMEN

The Ministry of Culture implements the Public Policy for Indigenous Peoples in El Salvador, which contemplates as a strategic action in health matters, the execution of a Care Program for women from indigenous communities who are victims of violence from the perspective of interculturally. Similarly, it developed the National Action Plan for Indigenous Peoples, approved in 2018 and which establishes the creation of a program that harmonizes the Law and the National Policy for a Life free of violence for women, with the knowledge and cultural values ​​of the native populace.

RESUMEN

This document was prepared as part of the consultancy: Creation of the observatory for the rights of indigenous women and development of the training process for indigenous women leaders, coordinated by the Salvadoran National Indigenous Coordinating Council (CCNIS), with the support of ONUMUJERES and the Embassy of Canada. The results summarized below constitute the first report of the Observatory on the Human Rights of Indigenous Women, with emphasis on the situation of violence and discrimination that they face in the Salvadoran context. It includes the quantitative and qualitative analysis of a survey on the perception of violence and discrimination carried out on a sample of indigenous women from the Nahua Pipil, Lenka and Kakawira Peoples. The information was collected in the months of November and December 2021.

RESUMEN

Observatory of Indigenous Women of El Salvador promoted by the Salvadoran National Indigenous Coordinating Council (CCNIS), the Network of Indigenous Women of El Salvador. This initiative aims to have a significant and necessary impact to inform, raise awareness, and collect data and indicators that help generate evidence on the current situation of Indigenous Women in El Salvador, likewise, the Observatory will strengthen the empowerment strategies implemented by CCNIS to support Indigenous Women as rights holders and enhance their capacity as advocates and facilitators of rights. The website has as a virtue, a space to make complaints by Indigenous Women to follow up on the cases, which will be activated very soon.
