RESUME
Según Global Witness, 2017 fue el año más mortífero hasta ahora para los activistas ambientales, en el que se reportó un saldo de 207 defensores ambientales asesinados por defender tierras comunitarias o recursos naturales. Más de la mitad de estos asesinatos ocurrieron en solo tres países: Brasil (23%), Colombia (18%) y Filipinas (14%), y la mayor parte fueron causados por agroindustrias, minería, tala ilegal y mafias organizadas de caza furtiva. Alrededor del 10 por ciento de las víctimas fueron mujeres, la mayoría indígenas, número que sigue creciendo cada año.
