RESUMEN On April 22, 2022, in the Judicial Circuit of the indigenous State of Amazonas-Venezuela, the trial of the case of the Jivi sisters was held, where the court sentenced Roger Bracho to 13 years in prison for the crime of aggravated sexual violence against two indigenous women of the Jivi people. Vladimir Aguilar, lawyer and representative of the Working Group on Indigenous Affairs, GTAI, said that the sentence in favor of the sisters of the Jivi indigenous people, "It is an important step in the struggle of indigenous peoples, of indigenous organizations in demanding justice and with this decision progress is made in respect of indigenous rights and indigenous women despite the fact that the case has suffered setbacks, finally today being the favorable sentence for indigenous peoples”. After two years of making the complaint, the young women Adina and Celis, today terminated the long judicial process that they undertook against the soldier, Lieutenant Roger Bracho, who abused the young women when they were serving in the Bolivarian National Army, in the city of Puerto Ayacucho, Amazonas.
